Biography

Ashok Khosla is a pioneering environmentalist and leader in sustainable development who has significantly shaped global environmental policies and practices. As Chairman of the Society for Development Alternatives since 1983, he oversees research and action programs focused on technology innovation, environmental management, and institutional systems across twelve states.

He has served as Chairman of the International Resource Panel of the UN (IRP), the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), and the Club of Rome. He holds a Ph.D. in Physics from Harvard University and a B.A. (Hons.) in Natural Sciences from Cambridge University.

Among his many honors are the UNEP Lifetime Award for Science Policy, the Zayed International Environment Prize, the WWF Duke of Edinburgh Medal, and the Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE).
